On the Norwegian Constitution Day they celebrate the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in 1814. That took place in Eidsvoll and from that day on Norway was no longer depending on Sweden. It were students who first celebrated the date. Children's parades exist since 1864. The royal family is also honored with the Norwegian Constitution Day.
