On March 28 2017 is Weed Appreciation Day and that means nobody should weed the garden on this day. Normally people try to keep their lawn and turf and their fields clear from weeds, as they look awful and steal water and nutrition from the crop. But on Appreciation Day it's time to celebrate those unwelcome plants like lion's-tooth, dwarf spurge and thistles and focus on their benefits and enviable features.
Some weeds bloom beautifully, some are even edible and most of them manage to survive under most inhospitable and difficult circumstances as drought, between garbage and others. The origin of Weed Appreciation Day is unknown but the message is clear: appreciate those survivors and try to find out about their values instead of hunting them down.
