International Sex Workers' Day honours prostitutes and recognises their often exploited working conditions. A sex worker is a person who works in the sex industry and some of them are paid to engage in sexually explicit behavior.
International Whores' Day
The day commemorates the occupation of Église Saint-Nizier in Lyon by more than a hundred prostitutes on 2 June 1975 to draw attention to their situation.
