Courir de Mardi Gras takes place on February 28, 2017, on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and is an event held by Cajun communities of south Louisiana. There are three Cajun traditions connected with Courir de Mardi Gras: The first one is begging for gumbo ingredients. The revelers go from house to house and beg for different ingredients for a communal gumbo. The last and main ingredient is the chicken. The second Tradition is the running. There are different running events; some are extra for children and some are women-only. The last tradition is the food and family fun. Different activities and events for the whole family ensure that everybody gets one's money's worth on Courir de Mardi Gras.
