The National Day of Spain Fiesta Nacional de Espaņa is celebrated on October 12, 2017. It is a national holiday non-working day in Spain. It commemorates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first arrival in the Americas, a day that is also celebrated in other nations, for example the USA. The most effective event of Fiesta Nacional de Espaņa is the Ofrenda de Flores, when flowers are offered to the Virgin Mary. In addition to that there are ceremonies and military parades taking place in the country. On Fiesta Nacional de Espaņa Spain's Day of the Armed Forces takes place, too.
