On January 01 starts the first quarter of 2026 and it ends on March 31. A quarter is a part of the year consisting of three sequenced months. The first quarter includes the months January, February and March and is also referred to as Q1 or in 2026 as Q1/2026. Sometimes there are Roman numerals used. The word quarter comes from the Latin language and means a forth – so the year is divided into four fourths called quarters.
The first quarter of the year is shaped by the cold months on the Northern hemisphere whilst on the Southern hemisphere people cheer about the warmth during that time. Many people deal with their New Year’s resolutions in the first quarter of the year and do not seldom fail to fulfil them. Easter can be a part of the first quarter when the variable date of Easter is in March.
