Grounation Day is observed on April 21, 2021. Grounation Day is an important Rastafarian holy day and it is celebrated in honor of Haile Selassie's 1966 visit to Jamaica. Tafari Makonnen Woldemikael became the prince of Ethiopa in 1916 and was further on called Haile Selassie. For the Rastafarian people Selassie was a god-like person and therefore his visit an event of maximum importance. On Grounation Day Rastafari people in Jamaica commemorate this event by smoking weed and celebrating their great day. The Rastafari belief started in the 1930s and is very close to the Christian, while Selassie is comparable to Jesus Christ.
