The International Day for Biosphere Reserves is observed on November 03, 2025. It was proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2022 and has been observed annually since that year.
The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of biosphere reserves in conserving biodiversity, supporting sustainable development and fostering scientific research. Biosphere reserves are areas that combine conservation with human activity in a sustainable way.
The International Day for Biosphere Reserves promotes cooperation between people and nature through inclusive management of land and ecosystems. UNESCO encourages education, partnerships and knowledge-sharing to strengthen biosphere reserve networks globally.
