International Day for the Abolition of Slavery 2017

December 2, 2017 in the World

The United Nation's International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is on December 02, 2017. It commemorates the convention of 1949 about the abolition of slavery and the exploitation of people. This international day calls upon the public to form a strong unity against slavery.

The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery also stands up against modern ways to enslave people like for example forced prostitution and child labor. More than 20 million people are forced to live in slavery or conditions quite close to it. Therefore the UN Secretary-General asks all nations to ban slavery.
