For March, 25 2026 the United Nations proclaimed the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. With this international day the dangers of racism and prejudices shall be put on the public’s focus.
The transatlantic slave trade is the greatest forced migration of human history and lasted about 400 years. Slaves are people who are regarded as property of someone else and being cut off all their rights and freedom. Slavery still is an issue today, which is the reason why the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade had been initiated.
