The International Day to End Obsteric Fistula takes place on May 23, 2017 and had been initiated by the United Nations (UN) in 2014. This international day aims to make the problems of obsteric fistula aware to the public. Suffering women shall be supported this way as they are often also suffering social exclusion.
A fistula is an unnatural contact or connection between an inner organ and the outer skin. Obsteric Fistula can occur during birth complications. Especially women of southern countries are affected by that problem. The International Day to End Obsteric Fistula helps annually to remove taboos and hence help the persons concerned.
