On May 05, 2017 is Liberation Day in Netherlands called Bevrijdingsdag in Dutch. Since 1990 this annual national day celebrates the Netherlands' liberation from Nazi Germany in World War II. Before 1990 Liberation Day in Netherlands was held every five years only.
There are musical festivals, remembrance gatherings and commemorative minutes of silence held all over the Netherlands, especially in Amsterdam and The Hague. Also veteran parades are organized to celebrate the liberation by the Canadian and other troops. The day before is another Dutch national day called Remembrance of the Dead or Dodenherdenking to commemorate the victims of World War II and other wars.
