National Catfish Day 2026

National Catfish Day is observed in the United States on June 25, 2026 and celebrates the value of farm-raised catfish. The day was initiated in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan who explained that farming of catfish creates affordable food on one side and a stable income for farmers on the other. Catfishes are a family of fishes native to North America, named after their prominent barbells which look like the cat whiskers.
