Prince Kūhiō Day is an official holiday celebrated on March 26, 2018 in the state of Hawaii, USA. It was established in 1949 in honor of Hawaiian Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaole Piikoi, whose birthday was on March 26. The citizens of Hawaii acknowledge the many contributions by the naming schools, buildings streets and even whole beaches after him. Kūhiō was always committed to perpetuate and preserve the native culture and the custom practices of the Hawaiian people. There are a variety of festivals to honor the Prince. Some of them last a week or even a month. But all of them showcase the Hawaiian culture, customs and traditions and are dedicated to Prince Kūhiō.
