Partial Solar Eclipse

On September 13, 2015 a partial Solar Eclipse can be seen. A partial eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are not exactly in line and the Moon only partially obscures the Sun. This phenomenon can usually be seen from a large part of Earth outside of the track of an annular or total eclipse. However, some eclipses can only be seen as a partial eclipse, because the umbra passes above the Earth's polar regions and never intersects Earth's surface.
The metonic series repeats eclipses every 19 years, lasting about 5 cycles. Eclipses occur in nearly the same calendar date. In addition the octon subseries repeats 1/5 of that or every 3.8 years. This series has 21 eclipse events, progressing from north to south between July 1, 2000 and July 1, 2076.
