World Futures Day is observed on December 02, 2025. It was proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2021 and has been officially celebrated annually since 2022.
The purpose of the day is to promote futures thinking, long-term vision and anticipatory decision-making in public and private sectors. It encourages societies to reflect on the consequences of current choices for future generations.
World Futures Day supports the integration of foresight methods in education, policy and innovation. UNESCO encourages global dialogue and inclusive participation to shape more sustainable and resilient futures.
