World Sustainable Transport Day 2026

World Sustainable Transport Day is observed on November 26, 2026. It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2023 and first time as well took place that year.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the role sustainable transport plays in achieving economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection. It supports the development of transport systems that are accessible, safe, affordable and low in emissions.

World Sustainable Transport Day promotes investment in public transport, cycling, walking infrastructure and cleaner vehicle technologies. The United Nations encourages governments and stakeholders to integrate sustainable mobility into their development strategies.
