Federal holidays in the U.S.

There are a total amount of ten official Federal Holidays in the United States of America, like Independence Day or Veterans Day. On Federal Holidays federal government offices are closed and the employees are paid. Depending on the holiday and the district also post offices, schools and banks might be closed on those days. Starting out with only four of them, including New Years Day the last one to be added was the Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1983. Federal Holidays have to be designated by the United States Congress.
