The International Day for Universal Access to Information is held on September 28, 2025. It was first declared by UNESCO in 2015 and later adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2019. It has been observed annually since 2020.
The day promotes the right to access information held by public authorities and institutions. It supports transparency, accountability and informed participation in public life.
