The day aims to promote understanding and appreciation of Islamic art, which includes architecture, calligraphy, decorative arts, textiles and other creative expressions developed across Islamic cultures over centuries.
The International Day of Islamic Art supports intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity and education through exhibitions, lectures and artistic initiatives. UNESCO encourages museums, institutions and local communities to highlight the richness and global contribution of Islamic art.
