On November 17, 2026, the world observes World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day. The World Health Organization (WHO) officially proclaimed this observance in 2025, selecting 17 November.
The date goes back to 17 November 2020, when 194 countries adopted a Global Strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, the first time ever a global health plan aimed to eradicate a cancer as a public health problem.
This day seeks to raise awareness that cervical cancer is preventable through HPV vaccination, effective screening and access to timely treatment, linking women’s health, equity and universal health coverage.
World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day encourages governments, health systems and communities worldwide to commit to vaccination, screening and care - to end cervical cancer for good.
