World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day is observed on January 30, 2026. It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2021 and is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The date marks the anniversary of the 2012 London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases.
The aim of the day is to raise awareness of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a group of infections that mainly affect vulnerable populations in tropical and subtropical regions. These diseases often cause severe health problems and social stigma, and many lack sufficient attention and resources.
World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day promotes access to treatment, prevention and research. The United Nations and WHO call for stronger global partnerships to eliminate NTDs and reduce their impact on public health and development.
